Parole Oral Hearings
Prison Law
If granted an Oral Hearing the Parole Board are going to hear your case at a formal Parole Board Hearing .
Since the advent of COVID the Board moved to running many of its hearings via a Video Link and has retained that as an effective way to deal with cases .
However it is not suitable for all hearings and if you are vulnerable or have communication difficulties the Board will opt for a face to face hearing .
Steps Prior to an Oral Hearing
If granted an oral hearing a number of steps will be undertaken by us :
- We will review the Parole Board directions and advise on a case strategy of what needs to happen and when
- We will consider with you whether any independent expert reports are required such as psychologists or psychiatrists
- Your full instructions will be taken on the evidence to be heard by the Board
- We will monitor progress in listing your case and if there is a delay in getting you a hearing date we will push for a timely review . If necessary we will use the judicial review procedure to secure that .
- We will continue to monitor the evidence and the case and prepare fully for your hearing
- Arrangements will be made to secure a pre hearing conference with you wherever possible and on the day of your hearing we will have a pre hearing telephone call or video link
- We will advise you about outcomes once we get the Parole Decision and where possible will challenge any adverse decision
- We will be ready to support you on any subsequent reviews
We have an established team who are highly experienced in Oral Hearings together with access to a range of experts and specialist barristers where we cannot undertake your actual hearing .
We look forward to your instructions and helping you with your progress towards release
Our Criminal Law Team
Why choose us
In the 1990s Jordans spread its wings into litigation work and has built solid departments in family law, dispute resolution, personal injury and crime.
Over the past 22 years, Jordans has built a strong national specialism in criminal appeal work. It has become a frequent occurrence now for Jordan’s cases to be featured regularly in the news. We are nationally recognised in the field of defending false allegations cases. This also led to us developing a strong Prison Law Department and interest in Judicial Review Cases.
We remain, however, committed to individual and high street practice and offer the fullest range of high street services with a very strong conveyancing department, wills and probate team. Barnardos receives a high level of support from our wills and probate team.
